We often throw key rings if they get broken or old. But throwing the ring can be a bad idea, as the ring in the keychain can be used in several ways. And today we will be reusing the ring by making colourful pompom flowers on a string to add beauty to your purse, bag or it can also be used as a simple decor.

Things you need:

  1. Scissors

  2. Yarn (five or six different colours)

  3. Glue tube or hot glue

  4. Ring from a keychain (or any keychain)

Directions:

  1. Making a pompom is very easy; there are many ways but the easiest is to roll yarn/thread around your three fingers and stop when your desired thickness comes, (it usually comes after 40-50 times of rolling in). Picture 2.

  2. Then run a three-inch piece of yarn in between your fingers and tie a knot; pictures 3 and 4.

  3. Cut the loops and trim the messy pompom to make it even from all around, pictures 5 and 6.

(You need to make seven pompoms of either the same or different colours), when done, leave the pompoms aside.

  1. To make the tussle, take 40-inch long yarn (colour of your choice) and two fold it around three times and then two fold it till you reach four inches total length, cut it and then tie it in the centre; pictures 7 and 8.

  2. Wrap the tussle from top, picture

  3. Leave it aside.

Now you have a tussle, a metal ring and the pompoms; picture 10.

  1. Put a dab of glue and stick pompoms to each other; pictures 11 and 12.

  2. Similarly glue the tussle at the bottom of the flower, picture 13.

  3. You will need the help from an elder to sew a thread loop on top of the pompom flower; picture 14.

  4. Now insert this thread loop to the metal ring.

Note: You can tie this flower to any of your regular keychain to enhance the beauty and colours.
