CHARSADDA: The landowners registered FIR under 7ATA in Tangi police station against the tenants for setting on fire their two tractors and ransacking their residences.

According to report, the FIR was registered against 35 tenants including All Parties Jirga members for torching two tractors. The case was also registered against 47 tenants for ransacking the residences of landowners on Monday when FC and police were sent to evict tenants from the 100 acres of land in the light of Peshawar High Court’s directives in Ijara kallay in Shamali Hashtnagar.

The tenants allegedly besieged residences of Akram Jan Khan and Arshad Khan and ransacked the houses to resist their eviction. The tenants made announcements through loudspeakers, asking people to take arms and resist the operation. However, local elders and administration held parleys with them to resolve the issue amicably.

During the talks, it was agreed to form a committee wherein APJ Hashtnagar president would represent the tenants while district nazim Fahad Azam would represent the landowners.

However, on Tuesday the landowners registered FIR against the tenants and APJ members for inflicting financial losses on them while setting their vehicles on fire and damaging their household items.

APJ condemned registration of FIR and demanded of the administration to withdraw it. Landowner Ikram Jan Khan registered FIR against tenants Ajab Khan, Amjad Ali, Fayaz Ali, Ajmal, Ghafoor, Bahadur, Mian Hekmat Shah, Asad Zaman Khan, Yousaf, Ismail and others for setting his two tractors on fire.

Arshad Khan registered FIR against tenants Shams, Manan, Mohammad Ishaq, Mansur, Ibrahim, Niaz Mohammad, Mohammada Jan and others for ransacking his residence.

Meanwhile, the tenants have given power of attorney to a 12-member delegation to hold talks with the landowners. A joint meeting of APJ is likely to be held on Wednesday (today) at the residence of APJ president Khadim Shah Safi.
