LAHORE: The 36th Nat­ional Men’s Boxing Cham­pionship and the inaugural National Women’s Bo­xing Championship will be organised by Wapda Sports Board here from Jan 15 to 20.

The men will compete in ten weight categories — 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg and 91+kg.

All affiliated units of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad, Army, Navy, PAF, Wapda, Railways, KPT, K-Electric, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Fata and Gilgit-Baltistan are eligible to participate in the men’s championship. Each unit can enter one boxer in each weight category.

In the women’s event, which is being introduced for the first time at the national level, bouts will be held in three weight categories — 48-51kg, 57-60kg and 69-75kg.

Only provincial boxing associations including Balo­chistan, Khyber Pakhtun­khwa, Punjab, Sindh, Islam­abad, Azad Jammu & Kash­mir, Fata and Gilgit-Baltistan are eligible to compete in the women’s event. Each unit can enter one boxer in each category.
