RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government on Friday gave cheques worth Rs500,000 each to the families of the sanitation workers who had been killed by in Sadiqabad area during the last six months.

Cheques were handed over to families of Ashir Asif, Karamat Masih, Saqib Hussain, Mohammad Irshad and Asif Masih whereas the injured Sagheer Masih is being given best medical treatment.

Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Nasim said the Punjab chief minister had directed the local police to investigate the matter and submit a report as soon as possible.

MPA Raja Hanif Advocate said Albayrak company had also promised to give the families another Rs500,000 each.
