LAHORE: An armed man robbed a citizen when he was drawing money from an automatic teller machine (ATM) of a bank in Defence late on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at a busy commercial centre of Phase-I near Masjid Chowk.

Umair Majid Wyne, a Dawn staffer, said the internal lock of ATM cabin was out of order. As he drew cash, a robber forced his entry into the cabin, snatched Rs52,000 from him at gunpoint and fled the scene along with his accomplice waiting for him on a motorcycle.

Mr Wyne immediately informed the police about the street crime. Quoting police, Mr Wyne said it was sixth such incident in the area during last few months.

The B-Division police registered a case against unidentified robbers.
