REFERENCE Rubina Kureshi’s letter “Setting up Latif Chair” (Nov10). The writer has rightly pointed out that Sindh universities have not treated well the chairs established in the names of great scholars and eminent personalities.

Two chairs in the memory of the late prime minister Benazir Bhutto were also established in 2013, one at Karachi University and the other at Sindh University, Jamshoro, with an initial fund of Rs25m. These chairs were dedicated to research different aspects of Ms Bhutto’s life, as well as to focusing on issues that may confront Pakistan in the future.

At the Jamshoro Campus the edifice of Benazir Bhutto Convention centre, where chair offices were to be set up, was built costing millions of rupees. However, nothing substantial has been done and the building is gathering dust. The VCs of Karachi and Sindh Universities should act.
