BADIN/SUKKUR: Lady health workers on Wednes­day boycotted their duties during the anti-polio drive to register protest against non-payment of salaries.

At city outpatient department hospital in Badin, they staged a demo in favour of their demands.

The district health officer held talks with them after which they agreed to end their protest.

Meanwhile, Deputy Com­m­is­sioner of Badin Dr Tahir Shah­zad Thaheem taking notice of the non-release of salaries in Matli taluka directed DHO of Badin Dr Mehboob Khowaja to release the outstanding dues to the protesting workers.

They ended their boycott and resumed their duties after an assurance of the DHO that they would be paid their dues within two days.

Protests were also held in Kario Ghanwar and Tando Ghulam Ali.

A protest rally was taken out in Jacobabad by lady health workers against non-payment of last six months’ salaries.

The protest rally of the lady health workers was started from DC Chowk.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards which were inscribed with slogans against health dep­art­ment officials.

They marched on different roads and reached in front of the press club where they held a protest sit-in and raised slogans.
