CHITRAL: Sixty shops and three houses were gutted in Drosh Bazaar in the early hours on Friday.

The fire broke out in a makeshift shop of old clothes and it spread swiftly in different directions when three jeeps parked nearby exploded.

The fire brigade of Chitral tehsil municipal administration and Upper Dir and Chitral Scouts participated in the firefighting operation and controlled the blaze after four hours.

Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sartaj Ahmed Khan estimated the loss of the affected people to be at Rs400 million. Addressing a press conference, he demanded of the government to provide financial relief to the affected people.
