TAXILA: In the absence of proper safety measures at stone crushing plants, another worker lost his life on Friday.

Police and hospital sources said a crane operator Mujeeb Abbasi died when stones fell over him due to blasting.

His body was brought to THQ hospital from where it was dispatched to his native town for burial.

Hassanabdal Police have registered a case against the manager of the stone crushing plant, who managed to flee from the scene.

This was the fourth incident during the last one year.

Separately, police arrested four drugs peddlers and recovered huge quantity of narcotics.

The Attock Khurd police during a checking of vehicles coming from Khyber Paktunkhwa arrested two drug peddlers namely and recovered 1,150 grams of hashish from their possession.

Similarly, from another passenger van, police arrested Sajjad Hussain and recovered 1,500 gram from his possession.

While in Wah Cantonment, police recovered 2 kg hashish from two drug peddlers.

All the accused have been sent to police lockup after registering cases against them under the Drugs Act.
