LAHORE: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who has been admitted to a London hospital, is likely to undergo a cardiac procedure that may force him to extend his stay in the United Kingdom, it emerged on Friday.
An accountability court hearing a corruption case against Mr Dar had on Thursday rejected his application seeking exemption from personal appearance.
A media report suggested that Mr Dar was on Wednesday admitted to a West London hospital, where he underwent angiography the next day.
He is likely to undergo angioplasty later today.
Quoting hospital sources, the report said that Mr Dar had been to the clinic thrice for detailed check-ups in the last one week after arriving in London from Pakistan.
It claimed that the doctors advised the finance minister to extend his stay in the UK and get treatment on a priority basis.
His son Ali Dar and other family members are also in London, looking after him.
On Thursday, his lawyers told the accountability court hearing a money laundering reference against him that Mr Dar was in London for treatment of his heart problem and would undergo a medical check-up within 24 hours.
The court rejected his plea, maintained his bailable arrest warrants and adjourned the hearing till Nov 8.

There should be a law that bounds these politicians to get treated in Pakistan if they have cases against them. Nation would not let the Sharifs and company play musicial chairs. One come the other goes and so on. Most Pakistanis can't even afford the airline ticket which these politicians buy each time they come and go let alone getting treated in London!

Nothing new...it is a common symptoms for for elites whenever they charged for corruptions..angiography can be done in mist hospitals in pakistan...but i guess they are not good enough for the...folks..crime is crime but the worst crime is faking it..How many more of us are faking the facade? How many more of us are pretending to be something we're not? Even better, how many of us will have the courage to be ourselves regardless of what others think?...i guess it has become as our second nature...runs very common among our elites ...

We should have some rule like a person who has to take sick leave for, lets say 1 month in a year, is just too sick to be a minister. And it isn't like they are some special geniuses with no equal in the country. Pretty much all ministers have have been average, and many, even below average people; with only few that can be considered above average intelligence.
With thousands of angiographies and more advanced procedures taking place in Pakistan, every day with little to no complications, this just seems too deceitful and frankly humiliating Pakistan in front of others.

We need to replace the finance minister it’s not ok that he is fighting a case and has health problems country of 210 million we can’t afford a vacant position in the country but again like every other sector in Pakistan take your pay and take time off is a normal thing only in the public sector doctors teachers police etc

Why do these politicians always go to London for their treatment? I agree completely with Talha. Are these politicians serving the people of Pakistan, or are they citizens of UK? They should be penalized harshly for deserting their people.
In Pakistan, poor women are delivering children on the roadside, while these incompetent corrupt people get treatment in the UK. Pretty sure that comes out of the public funds also.

Prime minister and now Finance minister are getting treatment in the UK. People have to get rid off this corrupt elite. They supposed to get treatment in the govt hospitals in Pakistan. Few years ago Gordon Brown then Prime Minister got dental treatment from private dentist in the UK. The issue was raised in the parliament and he had to satisfy law makers why he did not use NHS services.

1)cardiac patients are supposed to have oxygen on especially if they are admitted with chest pain.he does not have that
2)cardiac patients are on Telemetry for monitoring .I don't see any leads attached to him
3) serious cardiac patients are attached to continuous Bp monitoring .i don't see a Bp cuff

He is A OK according to my physician friends in London. All his tests were normal and later on altered. It is common knowledge in London and the Bond Street that this is a big game being played out specially to cover up the 50 billion which he is accused of hiding in Dubai and Geneva.

I would recommend that Nawaz Sharif and his confidants should construct a state of the art Health Care facility in London . It should be paid entirely by the Pakistani tax payers- as it their responsibility to ensure the well being of their popular leaders. The facility should be manned by the British who are obviously superior Health Care Providers but paid by the Pakistanis . This complex should only be accessible to the Top leadership of the Nation . Analyzing the frequent visits to London, this may actually be a cost saving enterprise. As a bonus, the top leadership should be encouraged to invest in purchasing coveted properties in the neighborhood to facilitate their Care . As a further incentive they should have no limit on the foreign exchange that they can transfer out of the country for this noble cause. I am very confident that the National Assembly will support such a worthy enterprise. It may ultimately initiate an improvement in the Health Care by osmosis in Pakistan.

What a farce. One day angiography and next day angioplasty?????? Normally you do angiography to identify blocked blood vessels and immediately do the angioplasty to insert the stents in blocked veins cuz it is very same procedure and doctors don't want to repeat it next day. I got my angiography done in PIC Lahore, was discharge in an hour and came out walking on my very own feet. However Dar sb is a special case and to be treated in most special ways.

Angioplasty and angiography do not require a prolonged stay in a hospital, both procedures are done within an hour or so, at the end, you are healthy enough to go home and resume a normal schedule, but our politicians require staying away from Pakistan in order to feel healthy. That is why the PML-N government does not spend money on much needed hospitals, they rather build motorways and metro buses,I see the priorities of our government are a total mess.
