KOHAT: The police claimed on Friday to have seized a truck with weapons being smuggled to restive North Waziristan Agency allegedly for targeting security agencies.

DSP Zahir Shah of Saddar circle told reporters that a team of Mohammad Riaz Shaheed police station was checking vehicles at the Kohat Friendship Tunnel toll plaza checkpost. They stopped a suspicious truck and during checking recovered huge quantity of weapons hidden in its secret cavities. The confiscated consignment included 110 Kalashnikovs, 94 pistols of different bores and 184 chargers.

The carriers were identified as Jamal Khan of Peshawar and Sartaj Khan of Bara, Khyber Agency.

They admitted to the police that they had loaded weapons from gun manufacturing Darra Adamkhel to Waziristan for alleged delivery to a terrorist group.

A case was registered against the accused under arms and terrorism acts.

The DPO announced cash prizes and condemnation certificates for the team which foiled the smuggling bid.

Meanwhile, a man killed his sister in name of honour in Banda Malook Shah on Friday. DSP city circle Raza Khan said a 16-year-old girl was murdered inside her home on suspicion of having illicit relation. The mother of the deceased registered a murder case in the cantonment police station.

The body was shifted to the women and children hospital for autopsy and then handed over to relatives.

Initially, the incident was termed a suicide, but the police arrested the alleged killer in a raid at a house. The accused confessed to the crime.
