KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi met Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah at the CM House on Wednesday over the holding of four Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Karachi in February next year.

The chief minister assured foolproof security for the matches.

“The provincial government would provide security as per PCB standards,” he said.

The chief minister spoke to Rangers DG Major General Mohammad Saeed and Police IG A.D. Khowaja and asked them to arrange meetings with Col Azam Khan, who was in charge of security at the PCB, so that security arrangements could be finalised.

The chief minister also urged the PCB chief to hold some matches in Karachi when the West Indies cricket team visits the country next month.

They also discussed repair and renovation of the National Stadium at the earliest.

The chief minister assigned the task of coordination between Sindh government and PCB in terms of security and other matter to his principal secretary Sohail Rajput and said the upcoming matches would be beneficial for the people of Sindh especially of Karachi.

Meanwhile, IG Khowaja ordered security be reviewed at the National Stadium for the PSL matches.

He stated this while talking with Col Azam Khan who called on him at the Central Police Office on Wednesday.

The IG appointed DIG East as focal person for all matters related to the PSL matches and directed him to review security at the stadium along with additional IG of the special branch.

Khowaja observed that the additional IG would supervise overall security issues for the matches.

He also issued directions that Rangers and other law-enforcement agencies should also be taken on board so that security of international standard would be provided to visiting teams.
