UMERKOT: Police on Sunday arrested two men nominated in a case pertaining to the kidnapping of a married Hindu woman in Sebhari Bheel Mohla village.

The police action came after members of the Bheel community staged a protest demonstration and made bonfires at Allahwala Chowk, suspending the vehicular traffic to Samaro, Kunri, Pithoro and Mirpurkhas-Karachi for eight hours.

The protesters said that Naseeban, wife of Narso Bheel, was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by some members of the Halepoto clan within the remit of the Khokhrapar police station.

They complained that the police failed to help them in recovery of the abducted woman.

However, police reached the scene, pacified the protesters and persuaded them to end their sit-in.

The woman’s husband lodged an FIR against Muhammad Halepoto, Haroon Halepoto, Sikandar Halepoto, Ganbo Helepoto, Talib Samoo under the anti-terrorism law.

The police arrested two of the suspects booked in the FIR.

People of the Helpoto community told reporters that three weeks before a girl of their community was allegedly kidnapped by a member of the Bheel community. However, she was later reportedly returned to her family through area notables.
