Testing times have engulfed Pakistani politicians as they have been disqualified, questioned and indicted for possessing assets beyond their means of income. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been quizzed of his London property and the means by which he acquired his Bani Gala residence.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that it still remains to be seen where money for PTI Chairman Imran Khan's London flat came from.

In light of the investigation into Khan’s assets, Dawn.com looked at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) form submitted by Khan to declare his assets.

As per the accounts submitted and subsequently published in The Gazette of Pakistan on February 9 2017, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, of the NA-56 constituency, holds a total of over Rs1.4 billion worth of assets.

Over Rs1.3 billion of this wealth is in the form of immovable assets in Pakistan, of which the biggest include:

  • A house valued at Rs296 million in Zaman Park, Lahore (listed as inherited).

  • A 300 kanal plot near Islamabad valued at Rs758 million (listed as gifted).

The portion of the form for declaring any immovable property outside Pakistan is left blank.

Also of note are the PTI chief’s three foreign currency accounts listed under investments he has made, of which the largest is the dollar account at the value of just under Rs46 million. The dollar account is followed by his pound account at just under Rs2.4 million and the euro account at a little over Rs400,000.

The jewelry section is left blank, while the one motor vehicle he owned – a Toyota Prado – is listed as “sold during the year”.

Khan’s cash in hand is Rs7.1 million, while he holds far smaller amounts in accounts at banks Alfalah and Allied.

Under “furniture, fittings and articles of personal use” four goats are listed at Rs200,000.

The images below are copies of the form submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on June 30, 2016. The details of declared assets of all parliamentarians, members of provincial assembles as well as senators are available as a hard copy with Dawn.com.
