KARACHI: Dr Shoaib laid to rest

KARACHI, Aug 20: Dr Shoaib Shafiq, who was shot dead by unknown persons late Tuesday night, was laid to rest at Mohammad Shah graveyard, North Karachi on Wednesday.

His funeral prayers were offered at Jamia Masjid Madina, Block-I of North Nazimabad, after Zohar prayers.

A large number doctors and paramedical staff of the Liaquat National Hospital attended the funeral prayers.

Dr Shoaib Shafiq, 42, was shot by unidentified persons on a motorcycle near Aga Khan University Hospital late Tuesday night. He was rushed to the LNH where he was operated upon, but succumbed to his wounds during the treatment. Hospital sources said that Dr Shafiq had suffered a bullet wound in his neck, which proved fatal. He was Assistant Medical Director Administration of the LNH.
