LAHORE: Pakistan’s top karateka Saadi Abbas won silver medal in the -75kg category at the 14th International Erzurm Karate Championships held in Turkey.

According to the information released by the Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF) here on Thursday, Saadi lost the -75kg final to a host player by just one point at the event featuring around 200 karatekas from 21 countries.

Saadi reached the final of the said category after winning four fights — first- and second-round bouts against players of the host nation; he clinched the third fight against an Iranian and fourth against an Azerbaijani.

Meanwhile, PKF chairman Mohammad Jahangir and secretary Andleeb Sandhu congratulated Saadi for his feat at the International Erzurm Karate Championships.

Earlier this year, Saadi won silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Baku. He seized a gold and silver at this year’s South Asian Karate Championships staged in Sri Lanka.
