TAXILA: An online police surveillance system was launched in Attock on Wednesday.

The system was inaugurated by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Mohammad Waisal Fakhar Sultan Raja. Seven entry and exit points as well as 14 police stations have been connected to the online system as well as a CCTV system and a Human Resource Management System (HRMS).

District Police Officer Zahid Nawaz Marwat said four branches have been established under the system including HRMS, an online complaint cell, a police families’ welfare branch and a Command and Control Centre.

He said the crime rate can be decreased with the use of modern techniques such as HRMS, which will also help in the tracking down of criminals.

The RPO said the Command and Control Centre will lead to improvement in police performance and that entry and exit points will be monitored more effectively due to the new system.

The RPO appreciated the efforts of the Attock police for the promotion of information technology based policing.

He said the complaint management software, welfare projects of the Attock police and the Command and Control Centre are some of the imitable achievements of the Attock police. He lauded the role of DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat in promoting public friendly policing in the district.

He said the police will help the families of the police officials who died on duty and distributed cash among the families of martyred police officials.

Deputy Commissioner Attock Rana Akbar Hayat and Municipal Committee Attock Chairman Sheikh Nasir Mehmood were also present on the occasion.

Addressing police officials at Police Lines later, Mr Raja urged all sub-divisional police officers, station house officer and investigation officers to conduct unbiased investigations within the prescribed time and redress the grievances of the public in the best possible way.

He emphasised on improving security measures around educational institutions, important installations and CPEC projects. He directed them to always be accessible to the public.
