MANSEHRA: The killing of a man by rivals sparked protest in Kaghan here on Sunday, with the protesters blocking the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road to vehicular traffic for over three hours to demand arrest of the suspected killers.

The body of the man named Mohammad Rashid, a driver by profession, who was kidnapped from Kaghan some two days ago, was found in Mera Amjid Ali area on Sunday.

A group of people had booked his jeep for Mansehra from Kaghan, but they later killed him and dumped his body in a deserted place in Mera Amjid Ali.

The road was reopened to traffic after police held talks with the protesters and assured them of arresting the alleged killers soon.

The family members of the deceased ledged an FIR with the police, stating that the victim had developed differences with his rivals over marriage of a girl.

They said a jirga had settled the dispute, but even then rival party kidnapped and killed Rashid.

Kaghan police conducted raids to arrest the accused nominated in the FIR, including Mohammad Miskin, his son Mohammad Arsalan, Mohammad Ashfaq, Mohammad Shaukat and Khairzaman.

Meanwhile, a man was killed when a tractor overturned during cultivation of a piece of land in Baffa area.

Locals rushed Mohammad Ameen to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
