Child’s death

Published August 18, 2017

I AM utterly dazed after hearing comments from senior PML-N leadership over the death of an innocent child by labelling him as the first martyr of their political struggle.

Under the deceptive guise of this statement, they have cunningly exempted themselves from any accountability in this regard.

On the contrast, Mr Sharif ought to have apologised to the bereaved for the gross negligence on the part of his cavalcade.

Otherwise, these misleading precedents will only add to a further tarnishing of the image of the ousted prime minister.

THE death of 12-year-old Hamid, who was hit by an elite force car in Nawaz Sharif’s cavalcade, has been termed by PML-N staunch members as the ‘first martyr of democracy’, which is shameful.

A nine-year-old child full of aspirations and looking forward to the future had nothing to do with politics or democracy.

Shame on a motorcade which failed to win people’s hearts and instead took away a beloved son of a mother. Who is responsible? This might be forgotten by leaders but not by the boy’s family.

The authorities concerned must not let miscreants go off scot-free. They must be brought to book.
