QUETTA: At least four suspected militants were killed and a Frontier Constabulary soldier was injured in a gunbattle between security forces and militants in Kohlu and Dera Bugti districts on Sunday.

Security forces also claimed destroying several camps of a banned militant organisation in mountainous areas of the two districts.

Official sources said that the FC personnel launched intelligence-based operations against the camps of militants in Kohlu and Dera Bugti districts.

The security personnel moved into two areas after cordoning off entire localities. The armed militants opened fire on the FC personnel, triggering an exchange of fire with the soldiers which continued for several hours. The gunbattle between security forces and the militants left four militants dead and an FC soldier injured.

Official sources claimed that the militants killed in the clash were allegedly involved in several cases of extortion, kidnapping for ransom and attacks on security forces.
