KARACHI: The sixth Essa Lab National Junior and Senior Tennis Championship will be played here at the Karachi Gymkhana courts from Aug 5 to 11, organizers announced on Sunday.

The events to be contested in the championship include junior U-18 singles and doubles, 16 and under singles, 14 and under single, 12 and under single, 10 and under singles, girls under-18 singles, seniors 35-plus singles, seniors 50-plus singles and seniors 45-plus doubles.

Travelling and daily allowances will be paid to all participants as per the PTF rules.

A joint media briefing on the championship was held at Karachi Gymkhana on Sunday by CEO Dr Farhan Essa, Sindh Tennis Association (STA) president Khawaja Saeed Hai and senior vice-president Khalid Rahmani.

Dr Farhan asked the STA to select talented juniors for advanced coaching and promised all support for their training and grooming.

Prize money for the juniors’ event will be Rs 100,000 (PTF Grade One Event) while last date of entry for the championship is Aug 3, 2017.
