LAHORE: Outgoing members of the Board of Governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be meeting here on Friday.

The important tasks at the meeting awaiting the BoG includes the approval of PCB’s cricketing and non-cricketing programmes for the next year and approval of the new members of the Board for the next three-year term.

According to the meeting agenda issued by the PCB, it will be the 45th meeting of the BoG to be chaired by outgoing Board chairman Shaharyar Khan.

“The main points of the agenda include: chairman’s report, annual budget for the financial year 2017-18, domestic affairs committee report, game development committee report, induction of BoG members, update on Pakistan Super League 2018, update on upgradation of grounds and pitches, appraisement of regional coaches and support staff, grant of associate membership to district Chaghi and district Pakpattan,” a PCB press release stated.

The outgoing members of the BoG had suggested several changes in domestic cricket including introducing player draft method to select teams for the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, the country’s premier first-class competition.

As it is going to be the last meeting of the outgoing BoG members, perhaps it would have been better had the succeeding members taken the decisions for the future.

There are also reports that some of the cricket regions of the country are not happy over the number of players to be selected through the proposed player draft procedure.

According to the new proposal, a separate selection committee for a region will pick 12 players while only eight players will be chosen from the origin region.
