ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on the Textile Industry asked the government on Wednesday to release pending refunds of exporters.
The committee received a briefing about textile-related issues and progress on the Lahore Garment City. The committee was informed that 13 new buildings would be constructed as part of the garment city project. Three buildings have been constructed and rented out to one garment manufacturer.
The management of the project informed the committee that Rs125 million was saved over a period of four years. This amount was generated through the building’s rent.
The committee learned that the saving-cum-profit would be used for the construction of new buildings, which would also be offered to garment exporters.
