Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid at a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday announced that he would approach the Supreme Court (SC) next week to present his arguments against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

Rashid said that the suspect has been "caught red handed and it has been proved that the money is his" after submission of the joint investigation team's damning report probing the Sharif family's wealth.

"It was revealed that Nawaz Sharif owns his own offshore company," Rashid claimed.

The AML leader reiterated his call for the prime minister to resign, saying, "I am with Imran Khan."

"I implore Nawaz Sharif to step down as PM and go home," he said.

The AML leader alleged that "Nawaz Sharif's agenda is to fight against the Supreme Court and the army."

Rashid said that he had "predicted earlier that evidence [against Sharif] will be found", adding that if the premier does not step down he will "go to jail".

Referring to the SC bench's 2:3 split-verdict on the Panama Papers case, Rashid said, "One more vote is needed [to disqualify the PM]. Two judges have said he is not Sadiq or Amin, whereas three said that he should be given a chance and further investigation should be carried out."

The AML leader warned that all political parties would be banding against the ruling PML-N and Nawaz Sharif.

"If he doesn't bow before the SC's decision, all political parties including the PPP will unite against him. I will also meet Imran Khan tomorrow. If any party does not join us it means they are supporting Nawaz Sharif," Rashid warned.
