KARACHI: Madar-i-Millat Mohatarma Fatima Jinnah, under the guidance of her brother Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, played a vital role in the freedom movement and later after the independence struggled hard to put the country, then ruled by the military, back on the path of democracy, said Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Sunday.

In a statement issued here on the occasion of 50th death anniversary of Fatima Jinnah, he said that various issues being faced by the country nowadays could be solved easily if the nation followed the teachings of the Madar-i-Millat.

He said that Fatima Jinnah always stressed that women should get education and play their role in the progress of the nation as well as development of the country.
