ISLAMABAD: Two international squash events will be staged in Islamabad later this month featuring players from Egypt, England, France, US and Hong Kong, it was announced at a press conference here on Friday.

Karim Abdel Gawad, who attained world’s top ranking last month, is among several prominent Egyptian players featuring in a bilateral series against Pakistan which will be staged on July 15-16.

Earlier on July 12-13, Pakistan players will lock horns with contestants from England, France, Hong Kong, Egypt and the US in a series titled ‘Pakistan vs World-V’.

Secretary of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Tahir Sultan, legendary player Qamar Zaman, director academy Aftab Qureshi among other officials were present at the news conference held at a local hotel.

They said that the PSF had invited top international Egyptian players who reciprocated wholeheartedly by coming to Pakistan for which the federation was thankful to its valuable guests.

Besides the 25-year-old Gawad, Egypt’s Omar Moosad (world No.28) who attained third rank during October last year, will also participate in the Pakistan-Egypt series. World No.15 Mohamed Aboulghar, No.22 Zahed Mohamed and Karim Al-Fathi (No.35) will be the other players who will be battling it out for Egypt.

Hong Kong’s Leo Au, Egypt’s Karim Al Fathi, Lucas Serma of France, Todd Harrity of the US and England’s Nathan Lake will compete in the Pakistan vs World-V series.

Farhan Zaman, Farhan Mehboob, Israr Ahmed, Ahsan Ayaz and Waqar Mehboob will represent Pakistan in both the events.
