An assistant director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was arrested Thursday on the charge that he sexually harassed an Afghan national at the Islamabad airport.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered and the agency also suspended the official. The developments came after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar took notice of the incident and ordered a detailed probe into it.
According to the FIR, the complainant accused the official of sexually harassing her at the airport when she, along with her sister, arrived there from Afghanistan.
She alleged that they were taken by FIA officials to a secluded room at the airport where they were made to wait for five hours. Later, the officials removed the victim's sister from the room on the pretext of stamping her visa. Subsequently, the accused entered the room and attempted to assault the complainant.
The complainant said she managed to flee the scene after raising an alarm.
She added that other airport officials at the scene had laughed at her plight instead of coming to her aid.
The complainant said that she and her sister had been detained for not having the phone number of the hotel where they were supposed to stay in.
Police officials said they had arrested the accused after examining the CCTV footage of the airport and confirming the victim's account.
The arrested official will be produced before a magistrate on Friday.

The officers are all hired without merit and the male especially try to be funny all the times with the female passengers. Whereas they become gharatmaan when any of their female members face such incident whether at the airport or somewhere else. These kind of attitude occur in almost every department. We rarely find any manner or curtsey anywhere. Labor class going abroad or returning faces harsh treatment although they are the largest contributors in terms of foreign remittance. Thanks to Chaudry Nisar for this promptly action.

With these incidents at the airports on the rise and one after the other, it looks like The FIA and Airport Security is like recruits from an alien DNA. Totally other than human DNA. Where is this filth being recruited from and how were they raised (their upbringing) and what family values were they taught. This needs to be investigated and the recruitment process to be revamped.

Islamabad airport is the worst airport in Pakistan. I hate travelling from there. There have been countless occassions where uniformed security staff have asked for money and they shamelessly say as well that give us some dollar or pound. And heaven forbid, if someone has slightest of issues, they will make that an opportunity to claim whatever they see fit. It's disgraceful

There is no shame left and neither does it bother the public or the authorities anymore. A few months ago Asf women assaulted female non resident pakistanis in front of everyone and no one intervened. Again the victim says that other staff were laughing. No shame whatsoever.
Chaudhary Nisar these are your departments you should be ashamed of heading this ministry. Provide exemplary punishment to all those involved in every manner.

Maryam, you have no idea of how you, your father (NS), and his goons have created a culture where people (males and females) feel insecure even in broad daylight. 99% men never seduce a woman until she gives a green signal.
This official looks guilty but we all know that in harassment allegations facts are manipulated.
We should make the preposition right; women are sexually assaulted in the work places or any other public place only when they seduce men.
I spent 16 years in co-education and and now in professional life having with female colleagues and I have keenly observed that there is little or more consent from female side that makes the men to advance.
This phenomenon and this mind set is not specific to Pakistan or the subcontinent, European countries have exactly same situation.

We expect these FIA officials to be courteous and helpful to passengers and look what they are doing to the passengers.This case should be turned over to a military court because our judicial system is broken.The FIA agent could have got the passenger reservation by calling directly to the hotel. First they asked her sister to leave the room and the passenger waited 5 hours slone in the room. I think it was planned with the help of his subordinates and more officials are involved in this assault. I believe this is not his first time and he may have assaulted other passengers who did not report. I wonder what would have happened if Mr. Nisar had not intervened. My educsted guess, absolutely nothing.

FIA staff have a habit of misbehaving with passengers, the lack of respect they show towards passengers is extremely disappointing. Strict action should be taken against FIA official.

This is not a single case. The bizarre culture of misusing authority is common in Pakistan. The government officer has a mind set that they are above than all the rest. The FIA and Airport Security and Civil Aviation staffs have taken it for granted that can they resort to any kind of abuse or mistreatment of the passengers at their whims and fancy and get away with it, because of pretending to act in the name of their law, and because of their backing by some influential, powerful personalities. Who knows this case may be one of numerous such scenarios that take place every now and then, and are hushed up. If the Pakistani public has a short memory, it is to be reminded that recently it was an Airport Security staff woman who beat up two lady passengers (mother and daughter) just for asking her why there was no toilet paper in the toilet. Numerous such wrong doings are taking place in numerous governmental departments and other areas, because the moral of the overwhelming majority of people of Pakistan has gone down to a very low level.

This kind of officers think they are above the law, and do what ever they think good for them but on other hand we appreciate Interior Minister he is doing a good job and he is the only Minister in this whole cabinet of Mr. Nawaz Sharif who is doing his job honestly annd we want the court of law to dismiss this kind of officers from every department of Pakistan.Only suspension is not the answer.

Its normal attitude of FIA at the Islamabad airport, I cpme to Pakistan very frequently and everytime see their different episodes but the Problem is their is no place or counter where you can report. Unfortunatly we call it Islamic Republic of Pakistan, here is Canada a lot of convert Muslims who are friends of us wanted to visit Pakistan being a Muslim country they will learn about Islam. But I always discourage them, because dont want them to change their relegion. Shame os the FIA assistant director. But will be free, because our whole system is corrupt.

The arrest has been made and the legal process has been started as well; however, just like many other cases in the past, this particular case will also be prolonged and our focus will divert to new issues in coming days like JTI etc. The plaintiff may NOT contest either since she is a "Foreigner." Certainly, The accused will get away through our crook methods like approach/pressure by ruling authorities and bribe. His suspension and arrest is just for the time being and "Justice will never be done."

I was a Islamabad Airport earlier this year staff and travellers were smoking in the airport lounge it was full of smoke , I had approached staff various times but no one wanted to implement the non smoking prohibition, It is shameful I and many other including children were breathing in Cigarette smoke whilst waiting to catch plane back to Europe.
