CHARSADDA: A police official and an outlaw were killed in an encounter during a search and strike operation in Mandani area of Tangi tehsil here on Saturday.

Officials said the police and security forces were combing Spalmai area that some outlaws opened fire on the personnel. As a result, Shakoor police post in-charge ASI Khan Wali was killed. The police retaliated the attack, killing an outlaw identified as Imtiaz, while another culprit identified as Iftikhar and stated to be brother of Imtiaz, escaped the area.

The Mandani police lodged a report of the encounter in the Mardan CTD centre.

Later, funeral prayer of Khan Wali was offered in the Charsadda police lines. DIG Mardan Mohammad Alam Shinwari, Charsadda DPO Khalid Suhail, MNA Maulana Gohar Shah, district nazim Fahad Azam Khan, police officials and a large number of locals attended the funeral.
