ABBOTTABAD: Police here have made an elaborate plan to facilitate tourists during the Eid holidays and announced a traffic plan to be implemented for the purpose from 25th of Ramazan.

According to the plan, no heavy traffic such as trucks and dumpers would be allowed to travel in Abbottabad district during the Eid holidays. The police have asked the local transporters and tourists not to violate the traffic rules during the Eid days where the main Karakorum Highway would be providing a double track for the upward moving vehicles and single track for downward traffic.

The plan was announced by SP headquarters Shamsur Rehman here on Thursday at the local press club.

To manage traffic during Eid days, Abbottabad district has been divided into four sectors where DSP Khursheed Tanoli will head sector 1, ASP Taswar Iqbal sector 2, DSP Amjad Khan sector 3 and DSP Farooq Shah sector 4. It was further announced that only sector heads would be empowered to book traffic violators while tourists would be issued only a warning in case of first violation.

Mr Rehman said that on average over 70,000 vehicles entered the city on a single day during Eid days and to tackle the traffic load and facilitate the tourists coming to Nathiagali, Ayubia, Thandiani and upper areas of Hazara the leaves of all the police staff had been cancelled.

He said that additional police from other parts of Abbottabad district would also be deployed on the routes which started from Chamba Bridge in Havelian to Qalandarabad and on Abbottabad-Murree Road.

The SP advised the tourists coming from different parts of the country to use the bypass road from Haripur to Lassan Nawab if they intended to go to Naran as it would save their precious time. He said that it would also reduce the rush on the main GT Road. He said that the traffic police would also make special arrangements for repair of vehicles on different routes.
