PESHAWAR: Adviser to Prime Minister Amir Muqam has said reconstruction of roads in the scenic Swat valley would promote tourism in Malakand division.

He was speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate work on the 23-kilometre Bahrain-Kalam Road in Mankiyal in Swat on Wednesday, said a press release.

Mr Muqam, who is also provincial president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, said that Rs11 billion would be spent on completion of the project.

Swat district nazim and officials of National Highways Authority were also present on the occasion.

Mr Muqam said that PML-N under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was contributing to socio-economic development of the country.

He added that Bahrain-Kalam Road was a gift of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the people of Swat.

He said that PML-N believed in practical work instead of hollow slogans. “Owing to it, people across the country are acknowledging the services of the prime minister,” he claimed.

Mr Muqam directed the NHA officials to complete the project timely at international standard so that people from other parts of the country could visit the tourist resort.

Earlier, the local people warmly welcomed Mr Muqam on his arrival.
