SARGODHA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has alleged that Nawaz Sharif is utilising all resources to get him disqualified because the prime minister considers him a threat and a hurdle in the way of corruption.

Addressing a public meeting at the Sports Stadium on Friday night, he said Mr Sharif must realise that the nation was aware of his corruption, adding that the country would soon get rid of corrupt elements.

Mr Khan accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government of handing over all institutions of the country to corrupt and inefficient officers.

The PTI chief paid tribute to the Supreme Court judges who heard the Panama Papers case for rejecting the Qatari letter which was submitted by the Sharif family to justify the purchase of its flats in London.

He said the apex court had formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the financial affairs of the prime minister’s family and Mr Sharif would appear before it as a suspect.

He said the prime minister should stay away from power until the JIT completed its investigation, adding Mr Sharif had made a similar demand from former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Mr Khan said the Panama Papers saga was heading towards its logical conclusion.

The PTI chief paid tribute to Kashmiris, particularly daughters of Kashmir, for their continuous struggle for freedom. He said the movement of the Kashmiri people had entered its final stage and expressed the confidence that they would soon win liberation from India.

Mr Khan alleged that the news about a security meeting published in Dawn last year was leaked by the Prime Minister House.

He said the nation had the right to know what had been settled between the civilian and military leadership over their row on the Dawn story.
