A young man and woman were killed in Shangla on Monday in a suspected 'honour killing', police said.

Zarghuna Bibi, 23, and Ziaul Haq, 27, were shot allegedly by the woman's brothers after they found the two in a 'compromising position', Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Puran Circle Zeerab Gul said.

According to the DSP, Bibi's family suspected her of having an illicit relationship and had decided to dispose off of her.

The suspects used a Kalashnikov to commit the crime, police said.

The DSP informed the media that the woman's brothers, 20-year-old Ali Rehman and 45-year-old Muhammad Waseem, voluntarily submitted to their arrest.

The police registered cases against the suspects under Sections 302 and 311 of Pakistan Penal Code.
