QUETTA: Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday lauded the role of the army, Frontier Corps and other law enforcement agencies in improving the security situation in Awaran and adjacent areas.

During a visit to the district, Gen Bajwa was briefed on the security situation and community assistance initiatives by the army and FC in southern Balochistan.

He was informed that almost 150,000 individuals had benefited from medical initiatives of the army and FC which were working with the Awaran’s district administration to enhance its capacity.

Free education along with boarding and lodging facilities is being provided to 200 students of Awaran by the army and FC and a school has recently been established in the district.

The army chief said: “We shall continue to facilitate development efforts in Balochistan.”

Later, Gen Bajwa met local elders and notables who appreciated Pakistan Army’s efforts for security and development in the area. The army chief thanked them for their support to security forces.

On his arrival, the COAS was received by Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Aamir Riaz.
