PESHAWAR: Awami National Party has accepted the ‘unconditional apology’ of its Mardan nazim for deviating from the party policy about lynching case of Abdul Wali Khan University but warned him that he would be under observation.

ANP had served a show-cause notice on its district president and Mardan nazim Hamayatullah Mayar on April 23 for his statements and role as district nazim and district chief of the party on the lynching case of Mashal Khan on April 13.

ANP provincial president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti asked Mayar to clarify his position within three days or face disciplinary action.

Mr Mayar was informed by his party that his statements, role and dealing the lynching case since the day it occurred showed that he deviated from the policy of ANP on the grisly lynching case.

In a written reply, Mr Mayar apologised and also clarified that he had not issued any intentional or unintentional statement regarding Mashal’s murder case that would be contradictory to party policy.

“I cannot even imagine doing or saying anything that would harm party’s position.

I am even ready to appear personally for hearing before the party,” he said in his reply to the show-cause.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, Mr Hoti accepted the apology of Mr Mayar but with a warning that he would be under observation.

The ANP provincial president, accepting the apology, also warned him to follow party policy. No member or office-bearer of ANP was allowed to impose his personal opinion on an issue over a public platform, the release said.
