LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday upheld death sentence of a convict and commuted other’s to life imprisonment for killing 94 people and leaving around 150 men and children injured during an attack on Ahmadis’ worship place in Model Town in 2010.

A division bench headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan passed the orders on the appeal of two convicts Muavia and Abdullah challenging decision of a trial court.

During the proceedings, a deputy prosecutor general told the court that the trial court sentenced both to death for killing Ahmadis at their worship places. After hearing both sides, the court upheld death sentence to Muavia and commuted Abdullah’s to life imprisonment.

On Jan 17, 2015, an Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced to death Muavia and Abdullah for deadly attack on an Ahmadis’ worship places in 2010.

Both the convicts, on May 28, 2010, attacked two Ahmadis’ worship places in Model Town and Garhi Shahu, killing 94 people and injuring others.

The ATC had sentenced Abdullah to death on nine counts and to Muavia on seven counts. Both were also fined Rs3.3 million.
