KARACHI: Nine horses are set to battle it out in the Sizzling Cup when the Gymkhana race meeting resumes after a fortnight at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The races were cancelled last weekend for want of competition.

The Sizzling Cup, that coincides with the ongoing wave of scorching heat, is being held for the first time.

Nine horses have entered the field in the cup race, scale order VIII to be run over four-and-a-half furlongs, and look poised to deliver their best in the lowest division competition.

Meanwhile, a four-race card has been drawn for the day and altogether 27 horses will compete for the honours barring last-minute withdrawal.

With the exception of cup race, the remaining three races will be contested over five furlongs.

According to schedule, the first race starts at 3.30pm.

Place: Salam Kashmir and Kalu Khan.
