GHALANAI: Two militants were killed in a clash on Tuesday night after an attack on a border security post in Biazai, some 75km northwest of Ghalanai, the Mohmand tribal region’s headquarters.

According to local residents, militants from across the Afghan border stormed the Olai top post late in the night and opened fire with heavy weapons.

Security personnel deployed at the post effectively responded to repulse the attack and gunned down two militants and injured several others.

An army soldier, Noor Muhammad, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The residents said heavy artillery fire was heard from the border areas after the incident. The attackers fled after stiff resistance by the soldiers manning the post.
