NOWSHERA: A census team came under attack in a village here on Friday; however, no one was hurt.

Police sources said that a census team comprising a teacher, an army man and a constable was busy in collecting data in Gandehri village when three men started firing on them. The security men returned the fire, forcing the attackers to escape. No one was hurt in the incident.

The police said that the census process was stopped in the Gandehri union council following the attack.

After the incident, district police officer Wahid Mehmood and other army and police officials rushed to the spot and started a search operation in the area. The police arrested two men, Tajamul Khan and his son, Abu Horerah, and recovered arms from their possession.

After initial interrogation, they disclosed the name of the main accused as Talha.

They said a search operation was started to arrest the culprit.

Constable Imtiaz Khan, who was part of the census team, registered FIR in Risalpur police station against the three accused.
