Rs1.18bn Mardan budget presented

MARDAN, July 26: District Nazim Haji Raza Khan on Saturday presented Rs1.186 billion tax-free budget of the district council here at a meeting presided over by Convener Attaur Rehman advocate.

Mr Khan claimed that under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme (KPP) Rs120 million uplift projects were completed last year in the district.

And Rs40 million schemes, he said, would be completed with the help of restored funds, presidential funds, the KPP and education sector programme for 2002-03.

For the annual uplift works, Rs55 million were expected from the development board of the provincial financial commission, he told the meeting.

About expenditures for the current fiscal year, he explained that Rs7 million had been earmarked for the Nazim secretariat, Rs2 million for the Naib Nazim secretariat, Rs28 million for tehsil municipal administration (TMA), Mardan, Rs8 million for TMA Takhtbai while Rs22 million had been allocated for the union councillors.

The Nazim said Rs56 million had been allocated for the annual development programme.

About the ongoing development schemes, he said Rs5 million were set aside for the Rustam-Buner road construction, Rs2 million for the establishment of a polytechnic institute while Rs3 million were allocated for seven drinking water supply schemes.
