KOHAT: Search is going on for the last over two years with the hope to find a permanent vice-chancellor of Kohat University of Science and Technology.

The last VC retired in early 2015 and since then the varsity affairs were being run by an acting VC who was a senior dean and had also to take classes.

Talking to this correspondent, an official recalled that earlier three names for the post of Kohat university VC were short-listed, including Dr Zabita Khan Shinwari, Dr Nasir Jamal Khattak and Dr Izamul Asar. He said that the governor had given a nod to appointment of Dr Izamul Asar, but as he had given top priority to the VC UET, Peshawar, and then university of Abbottabad, he refused to take charge.

He said that the absence of a regular VC was causing administrative, academic and promotion problems in the university.

TECHNICAL COLLEGE: Provincial law minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi has announced establishment of a technical college at Rehmanabad in PK-39 here.

He said that this would be the second college of its kind in Kohat district and it would help in controlling unemployment in the area.

The minister was addressing a function arranged for joining of Pakistan Tehreek-i- Insaf by retired Subedars Fida Hussain and Abdul Haleem. The programme was held at the hujra of Mr Haleem.

Mr Qureshi also announced to give funds for Shior Pasdha road, boundary wall of graveyard in Jamal Mela, model school and upgradation of government boys high school, Chanda, to higher secondary level.
