PESHAWAR: All Pakistan Inter-university Men’s Volleyball Championship got under way at the indoor hall of the Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Centre here on Thursday.

In the opening match, University of Peshawar defeated City University 3-0 with the score being 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 while University of Swabi defeated Abaseen University 3-0 in the second match with the score being 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.

Abdul Wali Khan University beat CECOS 3-1 in the third match with the score being 25-21, 25-23, 25-19.

Sarhad University vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman was the chief guest on the occasion who formally inaugurated the championship in a colourful opening ceremony.

Former volleyball captain Abdur Rahim Khan, Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Centre Peshawar director Mumtaz Ahmad Nadeem, Pakistan volleyball team coach Mohammad Ikram were also present among others.
