KARACHI, Dec 29: Khushbakht Shujaat, Yavar Mehdi and Azfar Rizvi have been elected vice-president, general-secretary and treasurer, respectively, in the Arts Council election.

According to the results announced on Monday by the District Coordination Officer, Karachi, Mir Hussain Ali, the panel led by Khushbakht Shujaat notched eight slots of the governing body. The remaining four seats of the governing body were won by the other panel led by Huma Bokhari.

The elected governing body members are Dr Rehana Mohammad Ali Shah, Ibrahim Nafees, Naqqash Kazimi, Salma Baig, Talat Hussain, Sultana Siddiqui, Qasim Jalali, Saifur Rahman Grami, Kamal Ahmad Rizvi, Aneeq Ahmad, Seema Tahir Khan and Owais Adeeb Ansari.

Though the Arts Council has more than 3,000 members, only 2,065 members were eligible voters. At least 1,162 members cast their votes but 19 votes were rejected.
