KARACHI: A woman was shot dead allegedly by her ex-husband in Korangi on Sunday, police said.

Zaman Town SHO Adnan Bukhari said 30-year-old Nimra was killed by her ex-husband, Rafiq Jakhrani, inside their home in Bhanghar Goth, Korangi-1. She sustained three bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

The suspect managed to escape, he added.

The officer said the victim had been married twice. She had a son from her first marriage who lived with his father.

He said the initial investigation suggested that the victim had recently obtained khula (a form of divorce initiated by a woman) from her second husband, Jakhrani, which appeared to be the main motive for the murder.
