JHANG: The District Education Authority’s chief executive officer has surrendered the services of a senior headmaster who entered his office without prior permission. The school head was not provided any opportunity to explain his position nor did any probe was ordered by the competent authority before withdrawing his services from the district.

Sources said DEA CEO Riaz Ahmed paid a surprised visit to the Govt Hussainia High School where he marked absence of senior headmaster A.D. Khan and four other teachers. They said Khan was not available within the premises of the school because of assigned duty in connection with the on-going Punjab Examination Commission exams.

The headmaster visited the education complex next day to clear his position before the CEO. Following the chit system introduced by the CEO for the visitors,

the headmaster kept on waiting outside nearly half an hour. Later, he entered the office as he was getting late regarding his PEC duty but the CEO got annoyed and directed him to leave the office.

Later, CEO Riaz Ahmed relieved Mr Khan from the district and placed his services at the disposal of the Punjab Schools Secretary.

Since Mr Khan refused to talk to media, a senior educationist posted in the school told Dawn that whenever the command of the education department was changed in the district, such kind of situation was always witnessed. He said the head of a school did not deserve such a treatment and humiliation.

CEO Riaz Ahmed said since he remained engaged in various urgent assignments, heads of institutions were required to follow the decorum of his office. He said Mr Khan who was found absent from his school had misbehaved when he visited his office and he had rightly surrendered him. He said the schools secretary had also approved the relieving order.

The CEO further said that senior most SST Zafar had been assigned duty to look after administrative affairs of the school till the posting of new incumbent.
