KPT undisputed champions

KARACHI, Dec 26: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) lifted All-Pakistan cadet and junior boxing championship titles, securing four and three gold medals respectively in Mirpurkhas on Thursday.

According to information available here, apart from four golds in cadet category, KPT won a silver and bronze to accumulate 15 points. In junior events, besides three golds, KPT claimed a silver and a bronze to muster 12 points.

In junior competitions, light-flyweight Shahid Khan, lightweight Mohammad Ali and light-welterweight Jan Mohammad grabbed golds for KPT, while Mohammad Nisar (48kg), Mohammad Ali (50kg), Ali Mohammad (52kg) and Karar Hussain (57kg) won golds in cadet category.

Pakistan Army snatched two golds, two silvers and a bronze to finish junior runners-up, while Sindh Greens and Balochistan, with one gold, two silvers and three bronzes each, settled as cadet runners-up.

While the KPT boxers registered easy wins on points, featherweight junior fight between best junior boxer of the tournament Sikandar Hussain of Balochistan and Army’s Tariq Zia was closest which saw former emerging a 2-1 victor.

In another close fight, Balochistan’s Sakhidad overcame a spirited Mohammad Iqbal of KPT in the cadet’s 50kg bout to carve out a 2-1 triumph.

Munir Ahmad of Sindh Greens was adjudged best cadet boxer of the tournament.

50kg: Mohammad Ali (KPT) bt Mohammad Raza (Balochistan) 3-0; Aneel Hussain (Sindh Greens) and Hassan Sayal (Sindh Whites) (bronze).

52kg: Ali Mohammad (KPT) bt Wajid (Sindh Whites) RSC/OC/I; Syed Hassan (Balochistan) and Jahangir (Sindh Greens) (bronze).

54kg: Munir Ahmad (Sindh Greens) bt Murtaza (Balochistan) 3-0; Abrar Khan (Sindh Whites) and Sheeraz (KPT) (bronze).

57kg: Karar Hussain (KPT) bt Shahzaib (Sindh Greens) RSC/III; Ghulam Raza (Balochistan) and Nawaz Ali (Sindh Whites) (bronze).

Semifinals:

57kg: Shahzaib (Sindh Greens) bt Ghulam Raza (Balochistan) on points; Karar Hussain (KPT) bt Nawaz Ali (Sindh Whites) RSC/OC/I.

Junior (finals):
