More than 800 suspected militants have laid down arms in Balochistan during the last year due to the provincial government’s reconciliation process.

“The Ferraris belonged to various militant organisations,” said Balochistan government spokesperson Anwarul Haq Kakar.

The spokesperson also hinted that a large number of separatists from various militant organisations are ready to lay down their arms.

"Many more are ready to surrender before the government to lead peaceful lives", Kakar said.

Hundreds of suspected militants belonging to various organisations have surrendered to security forces in various parts of Balochistan.

Most have surrendered from the areas of Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Khuzdar, Mekran and Quetta.

"We want political solution of issues relating to Balochistan,” added the provincial spokesperson.

When asked about any contact with exiled Baloch leader, Kakar said "angry Balochs, not happy Balochs are laying down their weapons to be part of a peaceful society. Every person is important for us”.

Balochistan has been experiencing incidents of violence and targeted killings for over a decade. The largest province of the country by area, is home to a insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists.

Al Qaeda-linked and sectarian militants also operate in the region. The province shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran.
