KARACHI: Ravi Gymkhana, Tooba Sports and Metropolitan CC emerged winners on the opening day of the KCCA President Cup here on Monday.

Slow left-armer Bilawal Mahboob starred with five wickets for 14 runs as Ravi Gymkhana defeated Pak Crescent CC by six wickets at the Asifabad Sports Ground.

Hashim Khan slammed an unbeaten 79, knock laced with 11 boundaries and three sixes, to help Tooba Sports trounce Sadiq Gymkhana by eight wickets at the Pak Star Ground.

In the third match played at the KCCA Stadium, Metropolitan CC sealed a tense three-wicket victory over Nazimabad Youngsters.

The tournament is being organised by the Karachi City Cricket Association in which a record 216 clubs of seven zones are competing, compared to last year when 186 took part.

Pakistan Cricket Club won the 2016 tournament while Alamgir Gymkhana were the runners-up.

All the matches will be played on 45 overs basis on turf pitches under the PCB tournament rules.

Metropolitan CC beat Nazimabad Youngsters by three wickets at KCCA Stadium.
