KARACHI: A young woman drowned at the Seaview beach on Wednesday, according to Darakshan police. The body of the woman, who was in her late 20s, was found floating in the sea and sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination, where doctors confirmed the cause of death as drowning, said Darakshan SHO Ahsan Zulfikar.

The victim’s identity could not be ascertained immediately. The corpse was shifted to Edhi morgue for identification.

Cops booked

An official of police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and another policeman were booked on charges of illegal confinement of a citizen in Mehmoodabad, it emerged on Wednesday.

Mehmoodabad police have registered an FIR (24/2017) against ASI Aijaz of Mehmoodabad and a head constable of the CTD Garden, Israr Satti, under Sections 324 (attempt to commit qatl-i-amd), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code for keeping a citizen in illegal confinement, said police sources.
