Police on Friday announced the arrest of a teacher in connection with the suspected suicide of University of Sindh Jamshoro student Naila Rind on Jan 1.
The suspect, Anis Khaskheli, is a teacher at a private school, Deputy Inspector General Hyderabad Police Range Khadim Hussain Rind said.
The DIG said the two began speaking on Facebook about three months ago before they started speaking over the telephone.
The DIG said the teacher had allegedly promised to marry the girl but then refused to do so, after which she went into depression and ultimately ended her own life.
Upon retrieving telephone data, police found the suspect is a repeat offender who has done the same thing with 30 other girls, the DIG said, adding that police also found objectionable photos in the suspect's possession.
The Jamshoro police said on Thursday that they raided the residence of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (Nawabshah) registrar Ghulam Rasool Khaskheli in the Syedabad area and arrested his son, Anis Khaskheli, in connection with the mysterious death of Naila Rind, whose body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room on Sunday.
Sources said that the arrest was made on the basis of a 24-minute call, which appeared to be the last conversation appearing in the call data of the deceased woman’s mobile phone.
The registrar said his son, Anis, had completed his masters in English from SU in 2008 and since then he had almost nothing to do with the institution. At present, he added, his son was serving as teacher in a private school.

Whatever punishment he may get,,I wonder how these type of people are appointed teachers?? Teachers are to build nation, appointment and induction to this profession should be under strict contol & procedures to make sure only good people should enter this profession.

Arrested person is the son of a registerar of a govt university in Sind. It seems he was not aware of his sons shennanigans. Important thing to see how things unfold/move fm here onwards and how many twists n turns appear or are forced into this case thanks to our corrupt police n system

The culprit teacher should be made an example for others like minded people not to dare tread on this path ever again, and spoil innocent girls who fail to reconcile with the world and end their life. It is saddening for the parents and people alike. Being away from religion, by some, also leads to disasters.

Men can go to any length to be with a woman and in Pakistan the easiest lie is, they will marry the woman. This is not new there may be Millions of cases like this , because men has no morals or ethics neither they are taught in schools or at home. If they are men enough they should say they want to be friends.

It is indeed sad what happened to the girl. It is morally wrong on part of the boy that he misled so many girls. However Zubaida khan is right that from legal perspective boy didn't commit any crime.

If he said he does not want to marry her. Not crime, I guess the attention sneaking girls plot went wrong. Watching to much Bollywood, that is the cause of all this stuff. She probably rang. Going to kill myself, expecting sympathy etc, thinking her hero, will save etc. I guess was stupid to end her life for a man. There are plenty of men. The government should BAN Bollywood movies that have eroded Pakistani culture.

Why was he arrested? Can someone explain what crime did he commit? Why is he being presented as a " repeat offender"? What offences? What i get from news is that he had around 30 previous relationships and was breaking up the 31 st. Where the crime part fits in? I am surprised to read comments terming him predator, culprit etc. The teacher in question did not commit any crime. I agree with Z.khan.

@Zubaida Khan agree with you when ending a marriage is not a sin than how come a relationship which is not socially acceptable in Pakistan. Girls should be strong enough to deal with such situations and if they are not they should not get involve with anyone. She left but leaving behind family specially sisters to suffer.

@Zubaida Khan agreed both have right to end relationship. But that does not mean either of them go on exploiting each to that extend that the other persons finds no way except killing himself. This is crime indeed! There is no way around to justify it. Although he did not kill her but he became the only reason which became the cause of her death.

This is conservative where both men are women are not allowed but if you showed a paradise to a woman of this society, played with her sentiments and used her completely and then left her then the result will definitely be like that..He is culprit because he has been doing it as he is the son of powerful man. ..Not saying that he killed her directly but caused her for death. ..He deserves severe punishment so message can be given to others that nothing is above the law and the society is of human not animals.....

@AAMIR KHAN ..thats what i say What he did may be condemned by society but he did no break no law. If we leave to society, then what the girl was doing is also punishable. It is a hypocrite society that looks down upon two individuals meeting with their own free consent. SO if we go by society norms, then what the girl doing "something" for which she can be "blackmailed" is even more punishable: unfortunately.

They were both adults in their twenties, living independently, one completed his masters the other almost done. Now if they were not involved physically and the man was not blackmailing her with some objectionable material, then there is no reason to blame the boy for her suicide. Even if he was, the girl should have foreseen the consequences before taking that plunge. If he did not physically hanged her, he should not be blamed.
