Afghan leadership invites General Qamar Bajwa to visit Kabul

The Afghan leadership has reportedly invited Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to visit Afghanistan.

This was announced in a statement tweeted by military media wing’s chief Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor.

The Inter-Services Public Relations chief said that General Bajwa telephoned Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah and his Afghan counterpart on Saturday and felicitated them on the eve of New Year.

The army chief also reiterated the resolve to work together in the coming year for the peace and stability in the region, the tweet read.

“On the occasion, Afghan [civil and military] leadership extended invitation to the army chief to visit Kabul,” Ghafoor said.

Why would COAS call a head of state of another country? Is it a normal diplomatic tradition? Shouldn't PM or the President should call Afghan President?

Regardless of how many of our PMs, Presidents and COASs visit Afghanistan and for how many times but our relationship remains same as Afghan government only need countries which can bail them out every Ten years . Their friendship is based on foreign aid and foreign support since they are lazy , corrupt and crippled !

It is important that the Army chief should avoid engaging the Afghan leadership and let the civilian government take the lead here. In this way, that would show that we are united and would provide a buffer to the COAS against the hostile nature of this Northern Alliance based Afghan leadership.

Pakistan will be respected by others only when she is a strong Pakistan, educated Pakistan and prosperous Pakistan. Countries enormous potential in agriculture, manufacturing and manpower is second to none in Asia. If necessary, Pakistan should do all she can to create a man made river on the western side of the country using water from melting ice from northwest via KP to Baluchistan. Some 25 million hector can be brought under year round cultivation. May cost over $50 billion but this will make Pakistan a prosperous nation. Even Afghanistan can join on this venture. Kabul river can be turn to another Ganges.
